The horizon-project started out as a test to create advanced motion blur effects within a Flash5 movie. It uses similar techniques as onthefly, but due to the variable speed, the blur intensity needs to be variable as well.
While higher framerates are not always attainable because of the amount of processing power flash requires of the system, lower framerate animations can result in visible jerky movement.
Pre-rendering the motion blur into the graphics can lead to a smoother result.
